Ask any nurse if he or she has heard the phrase, “nurses eat their young,” and you’ll get nods of sad recognition. Nurses choose their profession to deliver compassionate and effective patient care, and then they discover the ugly in nursing: nurses can be horrific to each other.

As I travel across the world speaking about workplace bullying, nurses eagerly share their stories with me; stories that make me sad, stories that embarrasses me, and stories that downright shock me.

I just couldn’t sit back and say, “Well. That’s just the way it is in nursing.” I had to do something about it. I had to do SOMETHING to stop the hemorrhage of nurses who are leaving the profession because of the bad behavior of their coworkers.

Enough is enough.
